DALL-E 2, a powerful image-generating AI system from OpenAI, now has expanded access

Do you need a professional picture from an AI? DALL-E 2 is a program that can create graphics out of anything you input, and OpenAI is getting ready to open up access to it.

The lab wants a million people to test out DALL-E 2 in the coming weeks, up from 100,000, according to an announcement by OpenAI on Wednesday that the program has officially reached its beta testing phase. On the OpenAI website, sign up for the waitlist to try the beta.

DALL-E 2 can produce stunning artwork and lifelike visuals by merely deciphering the words you type into a prompt. It made its debut in April and demonstrated that it could also render pictures of characters, settings, and objects that don't exist.

The software may provide a glimpse into the development of images in the future. Users could utilize a system like DALL-E 2 to produce many photographs rather than hiring a professional artist quickly.

OpenAI is now testing the idea of making money from the program. The business provides current customers with 15 free monthly credits throughout the test period. Users can purchase an additional 115 credits for $15, which can be used to produce 460 photographs. Every time a prompt is entered and a user clicks "create" or "variations," the lab adds, one credit is applied.

The ability of DALL-E users to use any photos produced by the application for commercial reasons has also undergone a significant alteration.

Users who intend to utilize the AI-generated graphics for "children's books, art for newsletters, concept art, and characters for games," among other projects, have already spoken to OpenAI about their plans. The lab is concerned that the program's ability to generate convincing images may be used to distribute false information.

"Expanding access is an important part of our deploying AI systems responsibly because it allows us to learn more about real-world use and continue to iterate on our safety systems," OpenAI wrote in a blog post. "We are continuing to research how AI systems, like DALL-E, might reflect biases in its training data and different ways we can address them."

About Open AI

OpenAI is an AI research and deployment firm to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. The development of AI must put human needs and safety first because it is a very potent tool. OpenAI is committed to prioritizing that agreement of interests over financial gain.

OpenAI aims to ensure that all of humankind benefits from artificial general intelligence (AGI), which they define as highly autonomous systems that outperform humans at most economically relevant tasks. They will make an effort to develop safe and useful AGI directly, but they will also see it as a success if their work helps others accomplish the same goal.
