The ability of employees to handle information across internal systems is growing more complex as businesses implement new solutions to support remote work practices. Lower-level employees also have to deal with their employers' now-vast libraries of apps, so it's not only the C-suite that's being tested. The average business now utilizes, Perttu Ojansuu , a company-specific, digital portal that centralizes much of a business's software and documentation in one place. Ojansuu recognizes his bias — he co-founded Happeo, a startup developing intranet software to connect employees with company tools. But Ojansuu says that his view was shaped by his experiences working with customers at Gapps, a Finland-based Google Workspace reseller he helped to co-found in 2010. One hundred ten software-as-a-service apps, up from eight in 2015, according to Statista . As a result, according to Coveo, employees will spend an hour longer looking for information per day in 2022 than they did in 2017.
According to Perttu Ojansuu, the answer is an intranet or a business-specific digital site that gathers much of a company's software and documentation in one location. Ojansuu is aware of his bias because he co-founded Happeo, a firm that creates intranet software to link workers with corporate resources.
In a recent interview with TechCrunch , Ojansuu stated that along with the company's co-founder, Antero Hanhirova, they both saw an opportunity to aid enterprise companies in the Nordics with their cloud transformation. He added that, during their time at Gapp, they realized a market gap. This came from a lack of transparent and systematic information when tracing the source of software-as-a-service tools. Hence, in 2016, based on this industry gap, both decided to create a comprehensive solution for their customers. As a result, in early 2016, Ojansuu and Hanhirova launched the first version of Happeo , called "Universe". The company was formally incorporated by the two in 2017.
By enabling customers to build channels and pages around tasks and shared interests, Happeo seeks to link teams and individuals in an "organic way," according to Ojansuu. The platform combines materials and apps in a searchable home page with a launcher that lets users quickly access various programmes.
The "federated search" feature of Happeo allows users to search across different internal technologies an organization uses. Beyond this, the service provides a location to host shared files and documents and interfaces with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. An analytics dashboard on the back end displays metrics like channel, page, post engagement, and search activity (e.g., the most searched keywords).
Ojansuu explained that given the fast-paced rate at which tech companies grow, there is no time to build processes. This ultimately leads to information chaos and adversely affects a company's productivity in the long run. However, using Happeo, teams can effectively manage communication and information. This would, in turn, increase productivity levels and enhance employee experience.
