Sunstone Partners and Thoma Bravo have acquired UserTesting for $1.3 billion

In the past, conducting all user testing with humans was the only way to learn how people interact with and utilise the software. Due to the development of contemporary sentiment analysis and machine learning (ML) approaches, more insight can be gleaned from testing.

Thoma Bravo, a software investment firm and Sunstone Partners have agreed to acquire UserTesting, Inc. (USER), a video-based human insight company, for $7.50 per share at a total valuation of $1.3 billion in an all-cash deal. Separately, UserTesting disclosed that its third-quarter revenues increased and its net loss per share decreased.

How Was ML Implemented Into UserTesting?

UserTesting has invested a lot in technology over the past two years to help it extract insights from its testing.

Users narrate their experiences while being recorded to see how they engage with programmes, including what they click on. According to Andy MacMillan (UserTesting Chief Officer Executive), his business has invested in using ML to help conclude the user experience content that has been recorded. The informational tidbits used to spot patterns that will enhance user experience are known as "moments of insight." Natural language processing (NLP), computer vision and intent, and behavioral analysis are just a few of the ML techniques used by UserTesting.

Another crucial aspect that ML aids with is the study of user sentiment and the capability to determine whether the user is happy with an experience.

To take things a step further, UserTesting leverages machine learning to generate a visualization that overlays path behavior and intent to gain insight into how consumers interact with a website or application.

End-to-End Solution

The complementing products from the two companies will produce a powerful end-to-end customer experience solution, assisting more businesses worldwide to innovate, grow revenue, manage risk, and provide excellent customer experiences. UserZoom is a user experience (UX) insights firm that provides its client with the tool which is required to conduct in-depth research and increase productivity. Customers can reap the benefits of both technologies to create a better brand, product, and a brighter customer experience with the help of UserZoom's multi-method research capabilities, proprietary benchmarking methodology, and its research repository.
