The most recent Google Chrome version for iOS

Google announced several new features coming to the most recent version of Chrome for iOS as part of a more significant update to the web browser. For example, the Chrome app will now have access to Google's Enhanced Safe Browsing function, which forewarns you about potentially harmful websites. A new language detection model, modifications to the user interface, the option to choose Google's password manager as the autofill provider, and more are among the additional enhancements. Some of these modifications have been present on Android and Chrome's desktop versions for months or even years, but they are just now being made available on iOS.

About the announced update

This update will make “Enhanced Safe Browsing” accessible on Android and Chrome for desktop computers available on iPhones and iPads. By submitting real-time data to Google Safe Browsing to be examined for things like malware, phishing, and other risks, this function can anticipate and alert users of harmful websites. Users of iOS devices will also receive alerts from Chrome about compromised credentials so that they can update their usernames and passwords. When the software has been modified, users can activate Enhanced Safe Browsing on their iPhone or iPad by heading to Chrome> More > Settings> Enhanced Safe Browsing.

Another update in iOS Chrome is "Chrome Actions," which makes it simpler to complete specific actions without tinkering with the app's settings. For instance, you can type commands into the browser's address box, such as "Clear Browsing Data," "Open Incognito Tab," or "Set Chrome as Default Browser." Following that, the app will quickly link you to the appropriate page. You don't need to know the exact command because the Chrome address bar can estimate when a user would benefit from a Chrome Action based on the typed words. Both PC and Android versions of this have been accessible since April of 2020.

The upgrade will enable users to choose Google Password Manager as their Autofill provider, competing with other password utilities like 1Password or Dashlane and giving users an alternative to the built-in password management system. When enabled, Chrome can help users on their iOS devices manage and fill out their passwords for any mobile app or website. Before this, the capability was accessible on Chrome for Android and desktop.

More than simply, your most recent tabs are now visible on Chrome's home screen. You'll notice that the app now gives users access to the same Discover feed of personalised content typically displayed on the home screen of the Google mobile app. Google mentions that Chrome for Android will ultimately support this.

Google is also improving Chrome's website translation feature, which uses on-device machine learning to make websites available in the language of your choice. An enhanced language identification model for iOS will be made available, and it will accurately identify the language of the page you're viewing and whether or not it needs to be translated.

Finally, further minor modifications have been found based on the Chrome 103 App Store release notes. You may now download and add iCalendar files to your Calendar, erase duplicate New Tab Pages in the background, and modify camera and microphone permissions for specific websites using the camera and microphone icons in the address bar. Chrome's three-dot menu has also seen a few adjustments to display better the Reading List and Bookmarks tabs, which are now placed higher on the list.
