Mosyle obtains $196 million in Series B funding and develops an Apple unified business platform

Instead of employing a patchwork of device management solutions, Mosyle's software provides an automated solution for securing and controlling Apple devices through a unified platform.

Defending Apple devices against security threats

According to research, the announcement comes as Apple device usage has risen during the COVID-19 epidemic, with Mac laptop use in the enterprise increasing by 63% in 2021 and 53% of IT decision-makers reporting an increase in requests for Apple devices over the previous two years.

Mosyle CEO Alcyr Araujo said, "Apple adoption in the enterprise and education markets is rapidly growing. However, consumers are trying to manage and protect their Apple devices with generic solutions from Windows-focused providers that have adapted their offerings to support IOS devices after the fact. And this is causing challenges."

Araujo said, "Consumers today rely on several solutions running on the same endpoint and experience zero integration between them. This makes it painful to manage and is inefficient in terms of automation,". Mosyle's solution is a unified platform that safeguards Apple devices and endpoints.

According to Araujo, consumers can automate previously impossible workflows, such as automatically isolating or erasing a device affected by malware without any manual effort, thanks to Apple endpoint demands being met through one platform.

An exploration of the market for mobile device management

Mosyle is part of the MDM market, which analysts predict will increase from $5.5 billion in the year 2021 to $20.4 billion by 2026 as security staff try to apply security controls on devices beyond the network's perimeter defences.

One of Mosyle's most prominent competitors in the market is Jamf, an Apple device management software that automates Ios device lifecycle management with account provisioning, identity management, zero-touch deployment, compliance monitoring, and threat hunting.

Over 60,000 organizations employ the system, which raised $468 million in its initial public offering.

Addigy, a cloud-based Apple MDM service that offers automated device enrollment, remote monitoring, and repair features, is another rival.

Mosyle's natural connectivity with Apple devices sets it apart from the competition. Araujo said, "Mosyle's customers have access to high-quality Apple-specialized solutions with native integration and automation for all their Apple needs at a price point that is lower than any individual module if bought isolated."

The Apple Unified Platform from Mosyle brings together five formerly different features and services into a single platform, including:

  • Enhanced Device Maintenance: Provides comprehensive MDM for macOS, iOS, and tvOS, zero-touch deployment, and automatic ongoing management, as well as support for shared devices, BYOD, and integrations with Google Microsoft, Active Directory, and other services.
  • Endpoint Security: Ensures devices use the newest macOS security features, follow leading cybersecurity advice, and comply with industry compliance regulations by providing 24/7 protection regardless of location. The technology detects native antivirus and malware and scans, isolates, locks, and wipes afflicted devices in real-time. With Admin On-Demand, the first and only privileged access management solution for macOS, it also automates the maintenance and security of privileged accounts.
  • Internet Privacy & Security: Provides encrypted DNS capability on Apple endpoints that automates online filtering and encryption. Customers enjoy quick, safe, and dependable web privacy and security at work or on the go by focusing on the device rather than the network.
  • Identity Management: Provides the maximum level of security for all company-owned Apple devices by combining Single Sign On (SSO) capabilities with two-factor authentication. The solution ensures security consistency across all Macs while streamlining how employees authenticate Macs using work credentials. In addition, Okta, Ping Identity, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and more services are supported.
  • Application Management: This allows enterprises to deploy, update, and manage any compatible software on Apple devices remotely, regardless of whether the app is published on the Apple App Store.
